GITARAM is a leading non-profit group not only in Murshidabad district but also in West Bengal, established in the year of 1999. Under its guidance, in the year of 2001, GitaRam Institute of Management affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, was established. In 2015, it got the affiliation of All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi, for conducting the Masters’ programme, PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management).

The sponsoring body of GitaRam Institute of Management is the Trust named GITARAM EDUCATION AND HEALTH FOUNDATION. The Chairperson of this Trust is Sri Pankaj Chowdhury whose sole moto is to develop and spread education and health service to the entire Murshidabad and surrounding districts for the benefit of rural population who are financially weak and having no exposure of the facilities of urban life. The Institute is governed by the board of eminent personalities and educationists.

The Institute is located 1km away from Berhampore town, beside NH-34 and on the bank of the Bhagirathi River. The campus is enriched with greeneries and free from the congestion and pollution of city life. The Institute has academic and administrative blocks in the building area of 22000 sq.ft.
